DIN formats according to ISO 216/ DIN 476
DIN formats are used all over the world. But some Central American countries and a group of states in North America better known as the USA wanted to do their own thing. There Letter, Legal or Ledger/ Tabloid are used.
DIN A0 corresponds approximately to the area of one square meter. In the fixed ratio of 1 : √2, all other formats below this are derived. See our following schematic:

Long DIN
Colloquially, several similar formats are grouped together as long DIN (DIN lang)
- the standardized envelope formats 110 mm × 220 mm and 114 mm × 229 mm,
- the standardized paper format in the size 99 mm × 210 mm – this corresponds to about ⅓ DIN A4,
- the final or definitive format 105 mm × 210 mm – Standard for the folding of letterheads DIN A4
Business mail in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) is mostly sent in envelopes of this type, while the smaller DIN C6 envelopes are frequently used in the private sector.
